LIC HFL’s NRI home loan is for Non-Resident Indians and Persons of Indian Origin who are in service, that is, salaried employees abroad. If you run your own business abroad, talk to us before applying so we can check the right option for your profile.
| Loan amount | Maximum funding (of property value) |
|---|---|

| ₹30 lakh – ₹75 lakh | 80% |
| Above ₹75 lakh | 75% |
The maximum term is 15 years for non-professionals and 20 years for professionals, shorter than the 30 years a resident salaried borrower can get, so EMIs are higher for the same loan. Stamp duty and registration are not funded; plan them with the down payment calculator.

RBI’s rules for housing loans to NRIs allow EMIs, interest and charges to be paid through:
The loan itself is paid to the seller or builder; RBI does not allow it to be credited to your NRE or FCNR(B) account. The property is mortgaged to LIC HFL. Prepayments carry no charge, so you can part-pay from your NRE or NRO savings whenever you like; see the prepayment calculator.
Mostly, yes. This is how we handle it for NRI customers:
| Type | Documents (as listed by LIC HFL) |
|---|---|
| KYC | Passport (mandatory for NRIs), PAN card, Aadhaar card, proof of residence |
| Income | Salary slips and proof of employment; bank statements for the last 6–12 months |
| Property (once identified) | Proof of ownership, builder or society allotment letter for flats, up-to-date tax paid receipt |
LIC HFL may ask for more depending on your country and employer. The full checklist for every applicant type is in documents required for a home loan.
It depends on your monthly income (converted to rupees), existing EMIs and the shorter NRI term. At 7.15% with 50%–60% of take-home pay going to the EMI (our calculation):
| Take-home a month (in ₹) | 15 years | 20 years (professionals) |

The loan also cannot exceed 90%, 80% or 75% of the property value, depending on the loan size. For resident salaries, see home loan eligibility by salary.
